“All pots are handmade. Microwave, oven, dishwasher, and food safe. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.” This will likely be one of the first things you hear when you enter Hestekin Pottery in Cornucopia. After that we can find out more about you & what you might be looking for in a pottery shop. Or, as is the case for some, the special piece may have already caught your eye & you’re ready to wrap it up!
Evan Hestekin is the artist behind Hestekin Pottery & he’s been honing his craft for more than 20 years. Drawn to a large platter in the window display of an artist’s shop in Eau Claire, WI, he began learning all he could about pottery & how to become a successful artist. Life eventually brought him to Lake Superior & the beautiful small town of Cornucopia. In 2012 he opened shop in a quaint old fishing shack in the Cornucopia Marina & he’s grown his business from there. It’s exciting to see return customers each year & to hear about how the pottery has enhanced their lives.
This excitement is what keeps the pottery going. Inspiration is taken from the continued support of customers & the fresh discovery by new customers. We are fortunate to live here — every winter is opportunity to pause & learn or experiment. It keeps the pottery alive, making the art interesting year after year.
