About Us

Founded in 2006, Helping PAWS Pet Rescue is a locally based, non-profit and no-kill animal rescue in Bayfield County. We are active in Washburn, Bayfield, Ashland and the greater Chequamegon Bay area of northern Wisconsin. We are unique in that we are primarily volunteer-run and provide daily continuous veterinary care to our rescue animals. The goal of HPPR is no adoptable companion animal should ever be euthanized for lack of medical care and a good home. We help dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, and other domestic animals. We care for not only young, healthy homeless pets but also surrendered animals and those that have medical needs.

Highlights

  • Our Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Rehome program focuses on rescuing and placing animals in homes.
  • The Many Hats of Our Foster Cats program allows our rescue cats' lives to be enriched in a local foster home.
  • Helping PAWS For Heroes program provides donation-free or donation-discounted services to military veterans.
  • Critters Without Litters program provides the community high quality and affordable ways to spay/neuter dogs and cats.
