About Us

Superior Golf with Lake Superior Views
Apostle Highlands Golf Course is an 18 hole championship golf course located in the hills above the city of Bayfield and 500 feet above Lake Superior. The course offers spectacular views of Madeline and Long Islands, Chequamegon Bay and the surrounding countryside. Golfers have Lake views on 13 of the 18 holes with holes number 3 and 15 being regarded as the most picturesque.
Apostle Highlands is a relatively short course, measuring just over 6300 yards from the championship tees. This doesn't mean the course isn't challenging, with tree lined fairways and hidden hazards ready to add a few strokes to the golfer's score. Once the greens are reached, golfers have to deal with large, multi-tiered greens that challenge even the best putters. Cold winds from the North can force players to take an extra club or two as well as add a layer of clothing.
The views are what our guests remember most. Every time of day provides stunning, panoramic views that are unrivaled in the area. On clear days, golfers can see as far as Michigan's Porcupine Mountains and Keweenaw Peninsula. Sailboats and motorboats can be seen playing on the waters of the largest freshwater lake in the world. The course also has its share of local animals with deer, fox, golden and bald eagles, and even the occasional black bear making appearances. After golf, many of our guests enjoy a cold beverage on our clubhouse deck that overlooks the 9th green and Lake Superior. A must see for all who visit the Bayfield area.
