  • About

The ''Ghost Tour'' continues the tradition of walking storytelling by lantern light. The tour is conducted in the persona of Mary Jane Anderson, a daughter of an early commercial fisherman. Meet in front of the heritage museum on Broad Street , for about a mile journey to discover some of the local natural, supernatural and ghostly phenomena. Hear the tale of the phantom girl at the ferry dock, the haunted house on Broad Street, the ghost of Raspberry Island, the spirit of Gruenke's, and Lake Superior as a magnet for UFO's. The walk is family friendly and enjoyed by guests of all ages. Walks conducted rain or shine so come prepared. Good walking shoes recommended. Cameras are welcome.

''Sven's Architect Tour'' is conducted in the persona of an early Swedish resident of Bayfield. From log cabins to elegant Victorians, cowsheds to mansions, Bayfield's architecture reflects not only the passing centuries but also the lives of the people who made it their home. Built from Wisconsin's great white pine forest and Lake Superior brownstone, Bayfield's buildings tell a fascinating story of pioneers, adventurers, lumberjacks, fishermen, bankers, merchants and frontier lawmakers. A sturdy mix of people including East Coast Yankees, French voyagers, Native American and immigrants from many lands left their stamp on the land. See the variety of styles that have developed thru the years. Your guide, Sven, has many an entertaining tale to tell on your walk thru town. Walks conducted rain or shine so come prepared. Good walking shoes recommended. Cameras are welcome.
