Job Description
Madeline Island School of the Arts Located on Madeline Island, WI, is a national art and craft school with additional locations in Tucson and Santa Fe.  The school operates summer classes on the Island from June – mid October.  Winter Workshops are scheduled January – May in the Southwest.
 
Classes consist of four different genres (beginner - advanced) in quilting, writing, photography and painting taught by national and international instructors.   The unique MISA campus has its own private lodging and dining facilities for up to 45 people per week.
 
Our MISA West Winter Workshops are held at the #1 dude ranch in the Southwest - Tanque Verde Ranch, in Tucson and a premier resort facility in Santa Fe. There are approximately 600 students each summer on the Island and 250 in the Southwest.


Position Summary
The school is seeking a candidate age 25+ with a college degree or equivalent. The Associate Director of Programs will work with a small department to provide leadership and management for the school's class programming and related operations.

 This is a unique career opportunity.  Position includes salary and full benefits.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership, manages and participates in the teacher programming function to ensure the most qualified and most popular teachers are scheduled 2-3 years in advance.
  • Works with the Director of Finance to develop appropriate budgets, strategies and financial planning.  Class programming includes analysis of pricing tuition, lodging and meals.
  • Responsible for teacher contract design and management.
  • Develops and manages systems and procedures to develop teacher promotion efforts and strategies for the respective workshops.
  • Works with the Director of Marketing to design and implement promotion and marketing strategies.
  • Provides recommendations for studio requirements and ensures that school policies and procedures are followed.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and Word and some graphic skills.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team and guide others in collaborative problem solving
  • High energy, creativity, a sense of humor and willingness to "jump in with both feet"
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate accurately the vision, mission and achievements of MISA
  • Interested in travel to the Southwest for Winter Workshops and trade show conventions to promote workshops.
