The Painted Quilt: Creating Small Works

  • Share:
Name: The Painted Quilt: Creating Small Works
Date: October 6, 2014 - October 10, 2014
Event Description:

This workshop is for quilters of all levels.

During this workshop you will use ProChem’s Textile Paints and already painted or dyed fabric from home, combined with purchased fabric to create 2-3 small quilt tops, approximately 24” x 24” maximum.

You will explore how to create small works with big vision!  Elizabeth will share how she gets inspiration from within, getting quiet and centered before approaching her work. Because Elizabeth works with large scale pieces, she will show you how these small quilt studies have been a wonderful exercise for her in scale, time and impact.

Half the time you will paint with textile paints, and half the time you will sew, though students are welcome to go at their own pace.

You will also do several exercises focused on design composition and use of color. Paper for these exercises will be provided.

Each student will complete at least one quilt top and learn how to objectively look at the finished results as a group. Elizabeth will work individually with you to provide plenty of feedback and assistance.
