Date: August 9, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

Free and Open to the Public; Presented in Association with Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve

Speaker: Dr. Tom Fitz,  Professor of Geoscience, Northland College.

This presentation will be about the sediments left at the end of glacial deposition, the soils that have developed on those glacial-age sediments, and end with modern beach sediments. Dr. Fitz’s interest in soils has grown because soils connect the physical Earth to terrestrial life.

Dr. Fitz has been a professor at Northland College for 18 years. He has been studying and teaching everything about geology of the Lake Superior Region, from the oldest bedrock to the youngest sediments.
