Name: Quilting With Sashiko And Sun Prints
Date: July 7, 2014 - July 11, 2014
Event Description:

This workshop is for quilters of all levels.

You will use non-toxic translucent paints to color background fabrics, or use fabric treated for cyanotype, which transfers exact imagery. With both techniques, organic elements such as leaves, flowers, or branches are placed on top of the fabric and exposed to the sun with wonderful and serendipitous results.

You will also explore how to develop sashiko foliage designs from photos, by studying and photographing foliage that would translate well into dimensional sashiko designs.

By the end of this workshop you will have explored contemporary and traditional sashiko techniques, how to pattern transfer to dark cloth, what needles threads and fabrics to use, and how to establish the right stitch length, points and curves.
