Color Boot Camp On Madeline Island: Discover A New Way Of Seeing Color
“Color that expresses the light key of nature can make any subject strikingly beautiful.” - Camille Przewodek
This plein air workshop in oils is for artists of all levels.
This workshop is an introduction to a way of painting outdoor light; capturing the time of day, the type of day, and learning to discern and express the subtle differences in the light keys of nature.
Monday and Tuesday will be devoted to outdoor still life, which will prepare you to tackle the landscape. On Wednesday and Thursday you will be on location painting landscape studies. You will explore the structure of the landscape—what is important to include, as well as what to leave out. On Friday you’ll work from the figure and still life.
You will concentrate on the development of strong starts, with a focus on expressing the big masses, light key and aerial perspective with accurate color relationships. Camille will be offering at least one demo each day. You will be asked to paint and apply the principles covered in the demonstrations.
Students are encouraged to bring original artwork or photos and talk about their vision as artists during the week.
